The Melaka Botanical Gardens, formerly known as the Hutan Rekreasi Ayer Keroh, was established from an idea mooted by the Chief Minister of Melaka, YAB Datuk Seri Hj Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam on 1 June 2006. Melaka Botanical Garden had a land area of 92.5 hectares and is encircled by a forest that contains over 300 species of fauna and flora.
Melaka Botanical Garden consists of a free car parking complex for visitors, various gardens, and other facilities for its visitors. The various gardens available are as follow:
- Taro/Yam Garden
- Bamboo Garden
- Orchid Garden
- Herbal Garden
- Heliconia Garden
