Melaka Air will operate domestic services from Malacca to Penang and Kota Baru by year end. The flights will be operated with cooperation of Firefly and is expected to boost the Melaka International Airport in Batu Berendam. Also, the FireFly-Melaka Air is expected to make its maiden flight on 11 November 2011, servicing seven air routes between Thailand and Indonesia. Malacca also signed agreements with Asean airlines allowing Melaka Air to operate flights to Asean destinations with unlimited frequency.
Currently, the only airline using the airport is Wings Air which operates three weekly flights from Pekan Baru, Indonesia to Malacca since last year. The airport handled 21,687 passengers until December last year.
To promote usage of the airport, international passengers are given a Passenger Service Charge discount of RM26.

Why Melaka Air want to sell the tickets them self? The ticket price is not listed and I have to call the appointed travel agent to buy tickets. This is a turn off.
AirAsia japan is using Air Asia website to sell their tickets instead of selling the ticket themself meaning that they are using existing establish website to sell tickets eventhough they are partialy own bya ANA.
There is no listing in Firefly website about this venture. All budget airlines sell tickets via website.
If the tickets is not accesible to general public, how do you aspect Melaka Air to be sucessful.Melaka Air website tak menarik lansung.
DAR do something. Jangan jadi macam monorail.

I guess we will all still have to wait for various parties to agree on certain terms before they can be fully operational. I personally think that the airport is underutilised at the moment. The best way for the government to promote the airport is to get a budget airline to take on the Melaka-Singapore route. Currently, Melaka Air will commence operation by first taking on the Melaka-Indonesia route and two domestic flights.

I think its high time the Malacca Airport is fully utilised and i was waiting for it to be operational for a long time, i.e the flight from Malacca to Penang and vice-versa. Hopefully with the resumed operation of the airport, it will bring in more tourists from other states/countries since Malacca has a splendour of historical values/attractions. Malacca Boleh!!!!!! Just wish to enquire when and where/how the flight from penang to Malacca take off and how to make bookings. tks

Hi Sophia, you can visit the Melaka Air website to obtain more details on Melaka Air. Currently, flight bookings will need to be made through an authorised agent. We hope that there will be a more systematic booking system in place and more flight routes to many other destinations from Melaka.

I fully agreed with En MOHAMED ISMAIL’s comment. I had enquired from Firefly Penang and was told that they didn’t know and not selling tickets for Malacca Air and this pissed me off. I told them that it was published in the papers that Malacca International Airport will be operational in Nov 2011. Now, i just do ot know where and how to book tickets from Penang to Malacca and also the selling price, what a set back. I just hope someone will be kind enough to enlighten me. Hidup Malacca!!!!!!!

Hi Sophia, you can go to Firefly Booking Page to book your air tickets. I have personally tried. It seems like there will be no route from Penang to Melaka at the moment. Melaka Air is only flying to Subang and Medan. It’s just weird as it contradicts to what is published in the newspaper. I will help to help you find out about this.

Hi adi, currently, we are clueless about the job opportunities at Melaka Air. However, you can visit the Facebook page of Melaka Air and submit your enquiry. Since Melaka Air is a collaboration with FireFlyz, I would presume Melaka Air will be using most of Fireflyz resources.
